Gempler’s Solid Braid Weeping Cord 

 

WATER

 

1 pound of rope needs about 3 gallons of water.

 

SALT

 

1 cup of salt is approximately 16 tablespoons (48 teaspoons) or 1/2 pint (1/4 quart). (4 cups is 1/4 gallon.)

Plain non-iodized salt should be used. Non-iodized salt is available in most supermarkets.

 

For dyes marked with a (T), Glauber's Salt (sodium sulfate) is needed instead. It is available from http://www.dharmatrading.com/.

 

For each gallon of water, use 1 cup of salt.

For 3 gallons of water, need 3 cups of salt (i.e. 1.5 pints).

 

1 teaspoon of salt weighs about 6g.

1 tablespoon of salt weighs about 18g.

1 cup of salt weighs about 288g (10oz or 2/3 lb).

3 cups of salt weighs about 30oz or 1.875 lb.

A box of plain salt weighs 26oz and is about 2 cups worth of salt.

 

DYE

 

1 pound of rope (3 gal water) needs 1 tbsp dye.

Dyes marked with a * require twice as much (2 tbsp).

 

SODA ASH

 

3 gallons of water needs 1/3 cup of soda ash.

1 packet of Dharma soda ash weighs 1 pound.

SYNTHRAPOL DETERGENT

 

Use 2 teaspoons
